Chestertons, Sovereign Insurance Services and Little Bay have raised over £8,000 for two local charities having hosted two special nights for clients courtesy of the Little Bay Indian Restaurant in Ocean Village last week.

Chestertons and Sovereign staff donned their aprons and became the waiters and waitresses to their clients and friends in two sold out special nights last week at the restaurant in aid of Calpe House Trust and the Methodist Church Gibraltar & La Linea help for the needy.

Rich Hunt, three times winner of Bartender of the Year, regular co-host of Jamie Oliver’s Drinks Tube videos and owner of world renowned cocktail bar in London, the Mint Gun Club, joined popular mixologist Juan Delgado behind the bar for a unique offering of cocktails especially crafted to accompany the evening’s unique menu.

The £8,020 raised from the 210 guests over two nights was courtesy of Little Bay gifting 20% of the takings, the staff gifting the service charge, Chestertons and Sovereign Insurance Services matching the service charge with their own donations and a series of auctions and money raising games. Expect to see some new cocktails on the menu very soon as bids were won to create and name a new cocktail.

Kelly Whelan, general manager of the restaurant was delighted “It was lovely to see so many people have so much fun. The chefs and our bar staff worked so hard those evenings, and I have definitely talent spotted some potential new waiters and waitresses from the staff at Chestertons and Sovereign Insurance who gave it their all.”

Neil Entwistle, managing director of Sovereign Insurance worked both nights “We were all exhausted and just amazed at the generosity of many of our clients contributing to the two great causes. Our staff really enjoyed doing something different too, judging by the feedback we have received.”

Albert Poggio was there to say a few words to the dinner guests on behalf of the Calpe Trust whilst Kelly Whelan thanked guests on behalf of the Gibraltar Methodist Church Appeal.

Mike Nicholls, CEO of Chestertons summed it up “What a great community spirit from everyone, our staff, Sovereign Insurance’s staff, the restaurant’s staff, our guests, our hosts and representatives from the two charities. We loved every minute of it and £8,000 over two nights demonstrates the very best of Gibraltar’s kindness to others.”
