Local and international estate agent Chestertons has signed up for another season as lead sponsor of local team FC Bruno’s Magpies.

Gibraltar’s market leading estate agent’s collaboration with the Magpies was a resounding success on and off the pitch last season. The club finished fourth in the second division, the highest place in its history, whilst reaching the Division 2 Cup final for the first time ever, narrowly losing in extra time.

Off the pitch, Chestertons’ innovative approach to marketing led to a number of firsts for football in Gibraltar. There was a free match day programme at each game, together with an opportunity for a child to run out with the team as mascot. No other club has done this for a whole season. Furthermore, Chestertons launched its own version of corporate hospitality for their guests who attended matches with a mixture of pre-match and half time cuisine. Another first in the history of Gibraltar’s football league.

The new approach to attracting new attendees to watch games meant that the Magpies had the largest following of any club in the second division. It is anticipated that this will continue to grow as the club aims for promotion.

Chestertons’ Managing Director, Mike Nicholls commented “We are proud to renew our association with FC Bruno’s Magpies. Both our estate agency and the club have growth plans with a desire to innovate, to create and add new dimensions to what we do. Outside of the top two teams in the premier league, we achieved the most media attention.  We are going to do it again, plus more!”

Louis Perry, the football club chairman, was equally buoyant “Last year we stepped up with the support of such a well-known name in Gibraltar. Securing Chestertons again as our lead sponsor gives us self-belief that promotion is possible. That’s the target.”
