Relocation - Advice for UK nationals in Spain Image

We have an update from our relocation department impacting those UK nationals in Spain.

Whilst the post referendum dust is very much still settling it is presently business as usual in our relocation department.  We are also busy working on how we may need to assist our client base, primarily focusing on British and other EU cross border workers.  We are conscious of the need to adapt to what looks like inevitable changes ahead of us at some point in time which we are ready to react to as and when needed.

On Thursday 30th June, we had a meeting with ‘Departamento Extranjeria’ in La Linea having had clients already seeking advice / reassurance and we can confirm that at present there are no significant changes to report on the Spanish residency status holders or applications for UK passport holders, which is as expected right now given that the UK is still officially part of the EU with all rights remaining.

There is one small change which has been identified however.  Any official, certified Spanish translations submitted to ‘La Linea Extranjeria department’ can no longer be certified by a UK registered official Spanish translator, any translation needs to be certified by an official Spanish registered translator irrespective of whether the translator is a Spanish national or not.  We have accordingly addressed this and have a new certified translator in place.

We are in constant contact in our everyday work and hold a very good, solid working relationship with La Linea and other nearby Spanish Government departments which will keep us up to date with any changes on the Spanish side of the border as and when they arise.  We will be in a position to help any individuals, family or business that require assistance, be it updating any Spanish residency application for those that require this or de-registration for those that may wish to relocate into Gibraltar or other.  Indeed, undertaking the deregistration process properly is very important.

We will continue to fully support clients’ needs and facilitate whatever scenario we are faced with in the coming days, weeks, months and years ahead.  We are ready to adapt as and when changing needs arise.
