The 2024/25 knockout competition held amongst the 40 or so members of the Backgammon Association of Gibraltar and sponsored by Chestertons for the last seven years, has been won by Mike Nicholls.
Commencing in March 2025 and culminating in a finals night on 23 June 2025 as the 2024/25 season drew to a close, the main trophy final matched Chestertons founder Mike Nicholls and Anastasia Antoniadi who reached 8-8 before Mike took the final thrilling game to win 9-8 and the Chestertons Cup.
Members losing in the first round of the competition entered the Chestertons Plate with the final bringing together Michael Pitaluga and David Frier. In a match with each player being in a winning position it was Michael that edged the final games to win the match 9-7.
“We are proud sponsors of many grass roots sports within the Gibraltar community” said Chestertons’ MD Paul Duck, “not least of which a mind game enjoyed by a wide range of people in Gibraltar".
The next season, which encompasses three divisions in a local league plus the Chestertons Cup, starts again in September. New joiners are always welcome, so make contact via the Facebook Group.
