This year saw some necessary changes to the traditional format due to Covid restrictions. Deliveries were replaced by collection only and the stall outside Chestertons’ offices was scrapped. However, this did not dampen enthusiasm as the Big Breakfast website dealt with over 250 pre-ordered baps from local companies supporting the event.

Chestertons’ staff were redeployed to Bruno’s Restaurant on Friday to prepare and serve a steady flow of take-away orders which with new orders coming in on the day, totalled 398 breakfast baps.

Morrisons donated the baps, Restsso donated the bacon and sausages whilst GibMaroc donated the eggs. This meant Chestertons donated just over £500 to the pot in lieu of purchasing the items.

“Thank you to Brunos for the loan of their kitchen and a top chef to help out and once again thanks to our regular ingredient donors” said Mike Nicholls, CEO of Chestertons. “Although we fell short of last year’s total due to the down scaling of our annual fund raiser, the sum raised was still way ahead of expectations. We were amazed at the level of donations this year from those who couldn’t attend for one reason or another. The spare food didn’t go to waste either. Father Charlie was happy to collect the unsold ingredients to redistribute to the less well off in our community. So everyone got to have a BIG Breakfast.”
